I have very limited musical talent, but I’m not lacking in musical appreciation. I am in awe of the composers of today (Mark Mancina is one of my favorites, he did the music for August Rush and helped Phil Collins with Tarzan). There are a limited amount of notes and instruments to work with, but every band and individual artist has their own unique twist. Amazingly, they always find a way to differentiate themselves from the competitions. I encourage you today to download songs of every genre because it will undoubtedly sound new! Download songs from someone you don’t like, for perhaps you may be able to appreciate what they have created. My all time favorite band is Switchfoot (Meant to Live, Dare You to Move) because they, well, they’re just awesome. You may be thinking that this article appears to have no focus whatsoever, and you’re absolutely right. It’s about music appreciation and downloading songs simply because you can! Have you noticed how many people still listen to 80’s music and other classic rock? One day, people will listen to the music of today and you’ll be able to say, “I remember when I downloaded that song. I listened through it 44 times in a row”. My message is to not waste your culture! My sister is 22 and used to download songs with every dollar she ever earned. Her library was well over 200 gigabytes by the time she left home for college. Since then, she hasn’t bought a song online. This is an interesting phenomenon in that she was so obsessive at one time but then halted her habits so quickly. You are still thinking that this article has no point, aren’t youI downloaded a song by All Time Low just the other day. It is a remake of the song “Umbrella” by Rihanna. It is my current favorite song, and I recommend it to you because of pure awesomeness! They took the most annoying song of 2008 and turned it into the sweetest piece of work I have ever heard. If you have any liking for rock music, then I guarantee that you will fall in love with this song after just one listen. You’ll find that it’s getting easier and easier to download songs (whether it’s legal or not). So as I already mentioned that you should take advantage of your culture, I’m going to go back on that sometime. Do not take advantage of today’s artists.
